Response to Chants at sept 28th demo
I half way agree with what you're saying. Those people with the 'Victory for the Intifada' certainly didn't represent me and I hope only represented a small minority of the people there. And I agree with you about the movement being supposed to be 'anti-war'.
But it wouldn't discourage me from attending another one. Becuase the reason that I went there was to show my support for the anti-war movment, to demonstrate that I'm opposed to the impending war and that I'm sufficiently opposed to it that I'm willing to take to the streets, give up my time to support and show people that there is a vibrant anti-war movement in the country.
But the movement needs to be inclusive and that means that people can join the movbement to oppose the war no matter what their wider political beliefs.
If you don't like their viewpoints, or feel that they're hijacking the march, try to bring as many people as you can to the next one, so that the people with less desirable slogans etc will be an even smaller (although still integral) part of the movement.
