Response to What does Anti-War mean?
Ron,
interesting but IMHO a lot of wishful thinking.
Of course the "Allies" US/Britain etc acted from mixed motives in WW2.
In fact US only joined war after Germany declared war!
But...
It was a necessary war & a war that had to be won - however mixed the
motives of the ruling elites in US/Britain..
As to Milosovic's fall, the mass demos you refer to fizzled out well
*before* the NATO bombing - it was - unfortunately - the weakening of
the grip of the Milosovic regime on the people & perhaps on their
imagination that allowed the opposition to rally the people for his
overthrow.
Bottom line - are you a pacifist? If so I salute you - it is an
honourable position. I would be interested to hear how far you would
take it - the "would you strike someone attacking your children"
question.
If not, then when exactly *is* the use of force justified?
