Response to Does the Irish Anti-War Movement condemn terrorist attacks enough?

Absoloutely not. It's one of the reasons people like me don't always have a lot of time for anti-war movements. They're seen as anti-american. There's a hell of a lot of nasty corrupt governments round the world. The third world is full of dictators who do horrendous things to their citizens, and often play a huge part in the economic problems in their own countries (often through pointless wars, or elaborate spending on military hardware). Yet , we never see you guys picketing their embassies, and they never get mentioned in your placards. You may condemn suicide bombings on this forum, but that's as far as it goes. You justify (or use another euphamism, like "trying to understand why they do it") suicide bombings, which is pretty sickening, i have to say. Terror is terror, and dead kids, mothers and fathers shatter lives, regardless of what race they are. If it's understandable for palestinians to commit horrendous, and ill-targetted atrocities towards the israelis because they're scared and have suffered a lot, is it therefore ok for the USA to commit horrendous and il-targetted atrocities against Iraq and Al Qaeda because they suffered terribly from terrorism? I hope we're not seriously saying that it was ok for the IRA to bomb mainland britain, just because they were oppressed by the British. Somebody mentioned that it was OK for palestinians to attack police within settlements becasue it is legal in international law. Does that mean if the UN back an attack on Iraq, making it legal, will you support this action? Bit of consistency, lads, please. Death is death, terrorism is terrorism. Loose the chip on your shoulders and broaden your horizons. Concentrate on the Tanzanias and the Zimbabwes of this world, as well as the USAs and the Israels. All the best, and good luck.
