Response to Does the Irish Anti-War Movement condemn terrorist attacks enough?

Stephen, I've never asked for us to give "too much" coverage to the terror attacks by al-qaeda and their ilk. in fact, ANY coverage would be nice. I also constantly hear this argument about there being no credible evidence to link al-qaeda to Iraq. I don't know what the CIA etc know, but I'm sure the whole iraq thing is part of the fight against terror, as opposed to just the fight against al-qaeda.As a Paddy now living in the UK, I for one will sleep a lot better safe in the knowledge that Saddam Hussein doesn't have weapons of mass destruction. I imagine the Kurds will too. I don't see a major problem with the elimination of this regime being an aim of GWB. I'd quite like to see it eliminated too. Then there's the argument about how you only ever give coverage to american/uk/israeli atrocities because it's the opposite to what the media reports, and people need to get the opposing view elsewhere. I'm not sure this holds water. Firstly, all of the broadhseets in Ireland (which i have limited access to over here) always report on incursions into the west bank by israeli forces. They gave quite a lot of coverage to the war in Afghanistan, and there's always coverage of the Iraq situation, and not always with a pro-american slant. There's certainly not much information in a "No war for oil" placard that the public haven't got access to in the mainstream media. And the media, especially here in the UK, is often very anti-war. I'm sure the guardian newspaper is available in Ireland. You should read it if you think that we don't get enough information about american atrocities. Anyway, this attitude that you guys are here to educate us does tend to get a bit tiring after a while. It seems to me and my friends that there is absoloutely no reason for your one-sidedness other than anti-american feeling. If somebody can tell me, in all truth and honesty that they said to themselves "Well, I'd really really love to protest about suicide bombings , but i genuinely feel that the public doesn't know about american atrocities" I'd accept that. I just don't believe that's the case with most people. I really dont. And that's why, as a flexible pacifist, I would never ever get involved in an anti-war march.
