The purpose of the meeting is to bring together people who want to provide support to the Palestinian people. Speakers from the IPSC and others will be outlining how we can provide practical support and show solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Palestine.

Humanitarian Aid for Gaza

 Please support the collection of humanitarian aid for Gaza that Galway Palestine Children’s Charity is organising for Saturday 24th January. The intention is to fill a 40ft container with a wide range of goods that are desperately needed. We are hoping the Gardaí will give consent for the main collection point to be at Eyre Sq..Galway City.

 

Financial donations would also be welcome: they can be made to Galway/ Palestine Solidarity Children’s Charity account,  AIB Tuam Rd, Galway, Sort Code: 937452

Assemble 2pm Saturday 31st January 2008 on the north side of the O'Connell Monument.

Mobilising call:

The Dublin Branch of the IPSC calls on all its supporters and all other people concerned with human rights to protest at O'Connell Bridge on Saturday afternoon 31st January. This protest is to mourn the dead and injured people in Gaza and we ask those attending to come dressed in black/dark colours and to bring black flags and Palestinian national flags. We ask people to bring no other banners. There will be some banners provided to make it clear what the protest is about.

Pain of Gaza:

Dead: 1,314 including 412 children and 100 women. 
Injured: 5,300 (some of whom will die), including 1,855 children and 795 women.
21,000 buildings damaged or levelled; 100,000 homeless.
Estimated cost of rebuilding: Billions

NUN'S ISLAND THEATRE, GALWAY @ 7PM 

Mayo men, Derek Graham and Alan Lonergan who crewed Free Gaza Movement boat "The Dignity"  from Cyprus to Gaza will be in Galway as part of national tour to get Irish support for the next voyage in March.

 

Our very own Treasa Ní Cheannabháin who has just returned from a devastated Gaza will join them on the platform.  Treasa will be returning to Egypt to ensure that the aid so kindly donated last weekend by the people of Galway gets through the Israeli controlled border in Rafah to the families in Gaza.

 

Free Gaza Movement, a human rights group that in August 2008 sent the first international boats to land in the port of Gaza in 41 years in August and have continued to break the siege to bring doctors and medical aid directly into Gaza Port.  Derek Graham, first mate on many of the trips stated,
