Want to be part of something….unexpected?

Host:   Amnesty International Ireland

Date:   Saturday, 19 September 2009

Time: 12:00 - 15:00. Meet at midday!

Location:  The gates of Stephen’s Green (just inside Fusiliers Arch)

We’re looking for as many people as possible to get involved in a flash mob that we’re organising in Dublin city centre on 19 September.

A flash mob is a large group of people who seem to suddenly appear out of nowhere in a public place, strike a pose or perform an action together and then, just as suddenly, disappear back into the crowds.

We will meet inside the gates of Stephen’s Green at midday and will only then be told what we'll be doing (all very clandestine), then head off into the city to raise public awareness about the devastation caused by the conflict in Gaza and southern Israel last Dec/Jan and the lack of meaningful action taken by our government or any other to demand truth and reparations for the victims. We will remind people that without their voice, governments can continue to turn a blind eye.

THE ‘GOOD WAR’ IN AFGHANISTAN:  The continued war and occupation of Afghanistan by foreign military forces has brought only death and destruction to the Afghan people and instability for the wider region. The war, which has now spread into nearby Pakistan with horrific consequences, has little to do with the claims made by Barack Obama and Gordon Brown and is un-winnable.

We call on all supporters of the Miami Five to join us in a candle-lit vigil outside the American Embassy at 5.30 to 7.30pm on 12th October 2009.

In June 2008, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta ruled that the sentences given to Ramon, Antonio and Fernando were imposed incorrectly and agreed to return them to the original biased Miami court for reconsideration of their sentences before the same vindictive judge.
