“Revolution on the Rise” around our world, &  demonstrations are daily news events.

This is the title and subject of a public meeting to be held this coming Tuesday, 9th August at 8pm in Richardson's upstairs meeting room. 1, Eyre Square, Galway City.

As revolution spreads across North Africa and the Middle East, as mass movements of resistance break out in Spain and Greece-  What can we in Ireland learn?

The Guest Speakers are:

Dr. Saber Elsafty. GP practising in Galway for over 30 years; originally from Egypt, and supporter of the demonstrations that ousted former President- Mubarak

&

John Molyneux. Author; Portsmouth University lecturer, and activist in contact with fellow activists in Cairo.

A pamphlet on  “The Egyptian Revolution”  by John Molyneaux will be available at the meeting, & also copies of an international petition calling for solidarity with the Independent Trade Unions in Egypt. This is for use in workplaces, councils, trade unions etc...

We live daily with such headlines:

Riverdance is scheduled to perform a series of shows in Israel in September (see here: http://www.ipsc.ie/press-releases/riverdance-sho...203;h). To protest this the IPSC are organising another demo outside Riverdance’s ongoing run at the Gaiety Theatre (South King St, off Grafton St – map here: http://bit.ly/nOFHgt ) at 6.30pm on Thursday 18th August. This will be the final action in our series of ongoing protests before Riverdance heads to perform for Israeli Apartheid – so please make the effort to come along!

This year the IPSC Sponsored Hill Walk will take place on Saturday 3rd September 2011. We will be setting off from Laughanstown, Co. Dublin at 11.30am and finishing up with a meal and some liquid sustenance in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow. The route will take us through the Dublin/Wicklow mountains via Lead Mines and Prince William’s Seat on a beautiful scenic walk.

The last four years’ walks have been enormous fun and raised a lot of money for the IPSC, as well as letting people get to know each other a little better.

GAAW PROTEST AGAINST TAOISEACH’S VISIT THIS TUESDAY OUTSIDE GALWAY’S CITY HALL AT 6PM

There are ample reasons to protest at the visit to Galway of Enda Kenny and his parliamentary band of Blueshirts– in a nutshell this new government is completely implementing Fianna Fail’s policies. GAAW will be there specifically in relation to the government’s continued collusion in the US wars of aggression. Our demand is simple: US Military out of Shannon!

The mayor of Galway will hold a mayoral reception for Kenny on Tuesday evening 6th September. We are calling on our supporters to turn up at City Hall at 6pm to give him the reception he deserves.
