24/07/2014 - 13:00
Thu, 24 July 2014, 13:00 Dail Eireann, Leinster House, Kildare Street, Dublin 1
A group of Irish medics and EMTs will gather outside the Dail on Thurday 24th July from 1-2 pm. These medics and supporters will call on the Irish government to take a clear position in unequivocally condemning Israeli attacks on medical personnel and infrastructure in Gaza.
During this latest onslaught thus far one doctor and two paramedics have been killed, over 30 first responders wounded, 2 hospitals bombed, a Red Crescent emergency services unit and numerous clinics and ambulances shelled or damaged.
Such attacks on medical staff and infrastructure are established Israeli practice. Paramedics and first responders are regularly targeted in both Gaza and the West Bank. During Cast Lead in 2008/2009,16 paramedics were killed and numerous other emergency responders seriously wounded. Targeted and random shelling and aerial bombardments also saw the partial or total destruction of many health care facilities and ambulances.
Speakers on Wednesday will include Irish paramedics, Palestinian doctors living and working in Ireland as well as commentary by phone from paramedics in Gaza.
Join us to hear first-hand the devastating toll of the ongoing massacres and join us to stand in solidarity with the medical and emergency personnel in Gaza who risk their lives daily trying to do their work.
This action is being called by Gaza Action Ireland and supported by the Ireland -Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) and Sadaka.
