NINE WOMEN CAMPAIGNERS WALK FREE FROM LAGANSIDE CROWN COURT EARLIER TODAY - 04/06/2010

PRESS STATMENT: NINE WOMEN CAMPAIGNERS WALK FREE FROM LAGANSIDE CROWN COURT EARLIER TODAY

Statement released this afternoon by nine women who were found not guilty of any crime in relation to their entering and occupying the premises of weapons manufacturer, Raytheon in Derry on Jan 12th 2009 :

'We are grateful to the jury and proud of ourselves.   This verdict represents an acceptance that what we did was not a crime but and attempt to prevent crimes against humanity being inflicted upon the people of Gaza by Israel.  We are very aware that the suffering of the Palestinian people continues and so does the determination of people all over the globe to stand in solidarity with them and against the racist aggression of Israel.  The people of Palestine are our neighbours, their children are the children of our neighbours.   We urge all those who have been appalled by the murderous Israeli assault on the freedom flotilla to join with millions all over the globe in tomorrow's day of action against the oppression of Palestine and in solidarity with its people'.
