This week the Minister for Justice and Equality Alan Shatter showed in no uncertain terms where the Irish government stands in terms of our neutrality. By stating that the Garda Síochána has no role in relation to the inspection of foreign State or military aircraft at Shannon - because they enjoy sovereign immunity - he was confirming that we are 100% in support of aggressive US foreign policy, regardless of how illegal, unjust or damaging it is.
The Minister also repeated the same old excuses and lies about civilian aircraft inspections - that is, planes used to carry CIA torturers and assassination crews.
Clearly the Irish government does not want to investigate or end the US military use of Shannon. That is why it is vitally important that we continue to oppose it with our presence at the airport every month.
Join us on Sunday 10th Nov from 2pm to 3pm if you can.
