Sharon I don't think protessting is the issue. Free speech also extends to your right to protest against someone else speaking. I has to do with stopping someone from speaking through physical means, whether that means physically stopping them coming into a building or the guards arresting them for breaking a law or something else. That's my take on it anyway.
