Response to Sanctions?

"U.S. President George W. Bush urged the Security Council on Wednesday to lift sanctions on Iraq...implicitly challenging its members not to allow their objections to the war to hinder the Persian Gulf country's speedy recovery. "Now that Iraq is liberated, the United Nations should lift economic sanctions on that country," Bush told workers at a Boeing plant in St.Louis that made fighter jets used in Iraq" (Japan Times, April 18). Could there be any clearer evidence of who will benefit from the "liberation"? Boeing and the other corporations who profit from war are queueing up to sell the new "democracy" their pricey toys. They must be pleased with their servant in the White House.
