Response to Count the Casualties campaign

I am wondering how "casualty" is defined in these counts?  A lot of folk think of a "casualty" only as someone who dies (whether civilian or military) but it has been argued that those who are permanently disabled, etc. are also "casualties" that aren't counted, and they should be. I will look up the article I read on that and if I can find it, I'll post it up.  There are a lot of ways for people to suffer due to war, there are a lot of "living casualties" walking around.
