Music, speakers and poetry will be recited in memory of those murdered

The organising activist groups involved are:

  • The Irish Anti-War Movement

The Irish people are at the end of their tether with the meaningless gestures and words coming from Taoiseach Simon Harris and Tánaiste Micháel Martin while we watch the atrocities committed by Israel surpassing previous ones. Evil acts and breaches of humanitarian law are being normalised daily.

While Israel is committing war crimes in the West Bank, Lebanon and all of Gaza the most horrendous situation currently is in Northern Gaza where Israel appears to be carrying out a plan hatched by retired Major General Giora Eiland to forcefully displace, starve or kill the entire Palestinian population there. Everyone has been ordered to leave after which Israel will lay siege to the entire area, allowing no aid to enter and deeming anyone who remains there a legitimate target.

The centre of this unfolding horror is the Jabalia refugee camp. One person who got out told the Financial Times ““It seems that the Jabalia camp will be deleted from Gaza’s geography.” In the last week, more than 150 Gazans have been killed by Israeli airstrikes. Dead bodies litter the streets, thousands are trapped and those who try to leave are fired at by IDF snipers.

One airstrike brutally targeted innocent children and adults while they were having breakfast in front of the Jabalia Girls School in Palestine killing and injuring many. Then on Sunday night, we watched patients being burned alive in their tents on the grounds of the Al-Aqsa Hospital.

Jim Roche, PRO & Secretary, Steering Committee, IAWM said:

“What is happening in Northern Gaza is a surrender, starve, be blown apart or be burned alive policy by the Israeli Government and military. Words can no longer convey the horror of these egregious war crimes. The Irish Government must stop sitting on the fence and take meaningful action. It must finally sanction Israel. Only sanctions can help lead to the end of this genocidal war on the people of Palestine. That is why we along with multiple other groups protest yet again at the Dáil this evening”
