GALWAY ALLIANCE AGAINST WAR Peace Activist Receives Further Death Threat

The PRO of the Galway Alliance Against War (GAAW), Niall Farrell, received a death threat by phone this afternoon (Thursday, 30th December) at approx. 12.45pm.  Back in 2008 Mr. Farrell was subject to four such phone calls, the final one in December 2008. The Gardai failed to apprehend anyone for the calls.

According to the GAAW PRO this latest call followed a similar pattern to the previous ones. “First the caller made obscene remarks concerning my late sister, Mairead, who was killed by the SAS while on IRA active service in 1988. And then the vitriol was directed at myself. The male caller stated: “Your f***ing sister got a bullet in the head and so will you.””

Mr Farrell response to the call was:“I am actually amused that myself and my dead sister are in the thoughts of this spineless individual. The big question is what are the Gardai going to do about it? They failed last time to apprehend the individuals concerned – even after the Garda Ombudsman became involved in the case. One thing for sure, I won’t lose any sleep over it, unlike the caller who sounded quite manic. Might I take this opportunity on behalf of the Galway Alliance Against War to wish everyone a peaceful and healthy New Year.”ENDS
