ISRAEL’S ATTACK ON IRAN IS A DANGEROUS, RECKLESS ESCALATION
NO TO A WIDER WAR IN THE REGION – YES TO DIPLOMACY

The IAWM today condemned Israel’s unilateral, unprovoked and reckless overnight attack on Iran that has killed men, women and children. This will further inflame tensions in the region and could lead to an all-out regional war.

Two days ago Netanyahu and his supporters had a close call but survived a vote in the Knesset to dissolve Parliament by 61 votes to 53. Negotiations between the US and Iran were to continue this Sunday. A diplomatic solution is the last thing Netanyahu wants.

Unprovoked attacks on Iran have so far received a measured response from Tehran – but this attack has seriously escalated the situation as Netanyahu again tries to embroil the US in its war against Iran. Iran will have to strike back. And once again Netanyahu spares neither Iranian nor Palestinian nor even Israeli lives to do what he thinks is best for his own political survival.

The fake aid programme of the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has repeatedly attacked desperate starving Palestinians forced to go there and compete for inadequate and small parcels of food. So many have been shot and bombed while forced to wait FOR meagre blood-soaked aid parcels when they could hardly stand.

The ruse that Hamas is responsible for any theft of supplies has been laid bare as a lie. Israel has been exposed and does not deny funding ISIS thugs to rob and destroy aid while the IOF turn a blind eye. How many more war crimes can Israel commit, while blaming Hamas and trying to normalise the most heinous and psychopathic killings in Gaza?

Glenda Cimino, US citizen and member of the IAWM Steering Committee said: “We must not be fooled any more. Netanyahu is prepared to sacrifice as many lives as necessary to hold on to power. He doesn’t really care whose lives are destroyed by his racist bigotry and greed for Palestinian land and resources. And Trump who lied in his election campaign that he would stop wars is still stoking the flames at home and abroad.”

Jim Roche, PRO & Secretary, Steering Committee said: “This latest attack by Israel is just another way to deflect world attention from Israel’s genocide in Gaza. It is beyond obscene to see how the Israeli Government again use the tactic of distraction to take the world’s eyes off the vicious escalation of the genocide in Gaza and the cynical killing operation. The Irish Government must openly condemn this reckless escalation and use Ireland’s neutrality to push for diplomatic and peaceful solutions.”
