Please support the collection of humanitarian aid for Gaza that Galway Palestine Children’s Charity is organising for Saturday 24th January. The intention is to fill a 40ft container with a wide range of goods that are desperately needed. We are hoping the Gardaí will give consent for the main collection point to be at Eyre Sq..Galway City.

We are also going to need volunteers to assist with the loading of the container, the collection of the goods and going to different large shops and even to local chemists to see if they can donate something worthwhile.

Treasa Ní Cheannabháin – who leaves with her husband – Dr Saber El Safty – for Gaza Thursday 15/1 supplied us with a huge list of goods needed. One important point no second-hand stuff! Danger it could break and there is no access to spare parts for ANYTHING in Gaza
1) Anything new is acceptable; Medical supplies, e.g. Bandages of all sizes, Cotton Wool, Steri-strips, Swabs, Surgical Gloves all sizes, Masks, Theatre Gowns, Coats, Thermometers, Kidney-dishes, Syringes and needles all colours and sizes, Specimen tubes, Sutures, Paper couch rolls, Stretchers, Operating tables, Defibrillators, Incubators, Ventilators etc.
Wheelchairs, paediatric, crutches, all kinds of rehab stuff.
2) Towels, blankets, sheets, pillow-slips, tea-towels. sweeping brushes, plastic buckets basins baskets, and mops etc
3) Cooking-pots and pans, and utensils cutlery, ( for refugee camps), Dishes, glasses Arabs love to drink their tea from GLASSES!! Small gas -cookers, kitchen presses or units for storage.
4) NEW children’s clothes and shoes and socks and tights. Nappies,( all sizes) feeding bottles + teats, sterilizing units, changing mats etc.
5) Teenagers jeans and T shirts both boys and girls, Runners and socks (boys and girls)
6) NEW Toys (fisher price) dolls, teddies, plastic play-houses, tents etc, games ( draughts, chess, backgammon, ludo snakes n ladders) etc Footballs, all kinds of rackets, Soccer nets, hurley sticks, all kinds of balls etc. Trikes and bikes for all age groups,
School bags, copy books crayons pencils pens. drawing books etc.
7) Cots, cradles, baby equipment eg, playpens.pushchairs, highchairs etc
8) Baby Formula eg SMA Gold (different age groups) (Target Cow n Gate!!) for large supplies.
9) Tinned vegetables, Beans, Peas, Sweet corn, etc Tinned Fish. (No meat please)
Tinned hummus. Tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit. (NOTHING PERISHABLE)
10) Candles all shapes and sizes (NON PERFUMED) and oil lamps
11) Washing up liquid, Soaps, washing powders, scourers, all kinds of cleaners.
12) Small study desks for children in their homes, small tables, lockers etc sleeping bags.
13) THEY MUST BE TOTALLY OUT OF WHITE SHEETS TO BURY THEIR DEAD!!! ROLLS OF WHITE COTTON PERHAPS?
14) MASKS GO LEOR FOR EVERYBODY DUE TO CHEMICAL WEAPONS.
15) GARDENING EQUIPMENT! SHOVELS AND YARD BRUSHES TO CLEAR THE STREETS OF THE DEBRIS!!!
16) SOME TREATS TINS OF BISCUITS AND BOXES OF CHOCOLATES AND SWEETS.
