The Irish Anti-War Movement, along with the Eyptian community in Ireland, is calling on its members to support the mass uprising in Egypt which calls for the resignation of Dictator/President Hosni Mubarak. Join us at the GPO on O’Connell Street tomorrow, 4 Feb, at 4pm – 6pm.
Hundreds of protestors have been killed and thousands have been injured since the uprising began on 25 January. The regime is refusing to budge and is effectively allowing the country to fall into chaos rather than heed the call for democracy. Reports are emerging that hired men were deployed by the regime to disrupt peaceful protests and wreak havoc. The situation is very dangerous, particularly if food and fuel supplies begin to run out.
Governments around the world must be placed under pressure to cut their ties with the regime currently in place. Let’s show the Irish government that we want them to sever ties with the Mubarak regime and do all they can to support the success of the pro-democracy revolution.
Mass congregations of supporters would also show those courageous revolutionaries in Egypt that they have our support and that they do not stand alone.
