Sir,
the US State Department (according to a report on RTE News on Sunday morning) has demanded “an immediate response by the international community” to the alleged gas attack on civilians in a hospital in Douma, outside Damascus. The RTE News report also noted that the US State Department said that since Russia supports the Assad Regime it should be held responsible for these deaths.
Certainly, if it is proved that they are responsible, both the Assad Regime and Russia should be punished for this and other heinous acts, although it is not clear which innocent international actor should do the punishing.
By the same logic, since it is an established fact that the USA supports the state of Israel to the tune of granting it $3.8 billion yearly, much of this in the form of military hardware, should the US Government not be held responsible for the recent undisputed Israeli state executions in Gaza which have killed men, women and children including, last Friday, one Palestinian journalist clearly wearing a Press jacket? Will world Governments, including the Irish Government, now immediately respond and sanction the US Government for such blatant complicity in the mass murder of civilians?
Yours etc.
