Multiple Palestinian solidarity protests in Dublin and elsewhere in Ireland today – see https://www.ipsc.ie/

The unadulterated slaughter in Gaza continues today and in the last week. Reports are just coming in of strikes by Israeli warplanes against makeshift tents of displaced Gazans in the Al Mawasi tent camp near Khan Younis which is designated by Israel as a safe zone. Gaza Health Ministry is claiming that 71 people have been killed with hundreds injured.

Earlier this week four schools sheltering displaced Gazans were attacked in Gaza City, killing and mutilating scores of Palestinians mainly women and children. One reporter on the ground described body parts flying through the air. One person lost all four limbs. Soon after over 400,000 civilians in Gaza City were ordered to leave Gaza City once again, many of them targeted by Israeli sniper fire as they fled for their lives.

Despite the inaction of the Irish Government ordinary Irish citizens have displayed over and over that they are against Israel’s onslaught, and want an immediate ceasefire, massive humanitarian aid for desperate Palestinians, and sanctions against Israel. That is why we must stay on the street protesting and the IAWM encourages all concerned Irish citizens to join solidarity protests in their area and to attend the IPSC National Protest on Saturday 20th July.

Jim Roche, PRO of the IAWM said:

“The bestiality of the Israeli war machine and the continued suffering of the Palestinians continues apace. The horrors escalated in the last week, with the multiple attacks on the schools where displaced Gazans were sheltering, the forced displacement of citizens of Gaza City, and now today with the air strikes on the Al Mawasi tent camp, which is supposed to be a safe zone.

Yet the major Western powers continue to unconditionally support Israel with the US announcing in the last week that it is disgracefully resuming the supply of 400-pound bombs to Israel. Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s press conference speech to the NATO summit in Washington last Thursday evening rightly condemned the Russian attack on a children’s hospital in Kiev, yet he blithely and dismissively referred to mere “conflicts in the Middle East”. It is like the Palestinians do not even exist in his eyes and hence have no rights.

We have to put pressure on the Irish Government to impose economic and diplomatic sanctions on Israel. If enough countries do this, it could tip the balance and force Israel to stop its genocidal war on Gaza. So we must keep protesting on the streets.”
