The Irish Anti-War Movement

IAWM PR – WORDS NOT ENOUGH; IRISH GOVERNMENT MUST SANCTION ISRAEL

  • WORDS NOT ENOUGH – IRISH GOVERNMENT MUST SANCTION ISRAEL
  • STOP ALL TRADE WITH ISRAEL
  • STOP US MILITARY FLIGHTS LANDING AT SHANNON AIRPORT

The Irish Anti-War Movement calls today for all anti-war activists to join the Dublin March organised by the IPSC – (www.ipsc.ie) today Saturday 23 March, assemble at 1pm at the Garden of Remembrance.

The national protest is supported by over 100 civic organisations.

The scenes from Gaza in the last week get more and more gruesome. Children starving and dying of starvation, four young men blown up by a drone missile while trying to walk back to their homes in Khan Younis (see pictures on right above), and military attacks yet again on al Shifa Hospital with tens of civilian casualties.

As the mass killing, forced ethnic cleansing, and deliberate starvation continue and escalate in Gaza we take to the streets yet again in our thousands to call on the Irish Government to get off the fence and to sanction Israel. Words from our Taoiseach and other politicians are not enough.

Jim Roche, PRO & Secretary, Steering Committee, IAWM said,

“Meaningless words from Irish political leaders are not enough. Since the IJC ruling in January, the Irish Government is in danger of implicating us all in a breach of the Genocide Convention. The only action that will force the Israeli Government and military to stop the mass murder, forced displacement, and starvation of Palestinians – all of which are illegal under international law – is sanctions by Western governments. The Irish Government has a legal and moral responsibility to act now to sanction Israel. It is beyond time to do this.”

The message to the Irish Government that the IAWM is sending loud and clear at Dublin’s IPSC March today is:

* Support the South African Government’s Genocide Convention case at the ICJ

* Boycott and sanction Israel

* Close the Shannon War Port
