The walk is starting in Curtlestown Wood in the Glencree valley. We plan on meeting in Enniskerry at 11:30 (to make this people can get the 10:30 44 Bus from Dublin city centre. It departs from outside the Screen cinema, near College Green).
The walk will be in the lovely valley of Glencree starting in Curtlestown Wood on the Wicklow Way. From Curtlestown we will follow the Wicklow Way to Knockree Hostel, then down to the Glencree river and up the other side of the valley to Crone Wood. From Crone Wood we will go up to Ride Rock overlooking Powerscourt Waterfall and from there to the summit of Maulin which is 570m. We will descend Maulin to a new waymarked trail in Crone Wood through spruce and firs, back down to the Glencree river, a riverside walk for about 1km and then back to Curtlestown Wood via Knockree. It’s a circular walk, starting and finishing in the same place.
Total walk distance is circa 15k, assent is 560m. We expect it to take 5 to 6 hours.
As usual everyone should bring good waterproof walking boots, warm and waterproof clothing, a packed lunch and enough liquid for 6 hours walking.
