Under US and Israeli pressure and diplomatic influence, the Greek government has agreed to become complicit in the illegal siege of Gaza. They have refused to allow the remaining boats from “Freedom Flotilla 2 – Stay Human” to sail on their humanitarian mission to Gaza – even forcing both the US and Canadian ships back to port at gunpoint. This comes on top of the sabotage of both the Irish and Scandinavian-Greek boats as they were docked 100s of miles from each other.
2. VIGIL AT SHANNON AIRPORT THIS SUNDAY
Time: Sunday 10 July · 14:00 – 15:00
Location: Shannon Airport – at small roundabout before security checkpoint
Recent media reports in Ireland quite rightly highlighted how Fianna Fail turned a blind eye to US torture flights passing through Shannon. The same seems to be true of the current Fine Gael/Labour government – there has been no action from them to investigate or ensure an end to the passage of these flights through Shannon. They have also continued to support the transit of foreign (U.S.) troops and cargo through the civilian airport. All this is despite their claims that they would ensure the use of Irish airports and airspace was in line with international law.
Please join us for one hour in Shannon on Sunday 10th July as we continue to protest peacefully against this misuse of the airport.
