1* 9th May, CRH Annual AGM – ‘Stop Cementing Misery’ demonstration.

On the morning of Wednesday 9th May Irish multinational CRH will hold their Annual General Meeting in the Royal Marine Hotel, Marine Road, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign plan a highly visual photo-friendly protest outside the venue, featuring a mock checkpoint with soldiers, scale model wall, and a ‘human message’ spelling out “CRH: Stop Cementing Misery in Palestine”. We will also be handing in a petition with more than 10,000 signatures calling on CRH to divest from Israel.

This is a call out to all solidarity activists and organisations to promote the protest and turn up on the morning and become part of a this important message along Marine Road.

Details:

What: The AGM is on the morning of Wednesday 9th May in Dun Laoghaire.

When and where to meet: 9.30am opposite the gates of the Royal Marine Hotel on Marine Road, Dun Laoghaire

What to wear: Hopefully it will not rain but be prepared just in case. It is a windy road so bring warm clothes.

How long: 2 hours.

Who to bring: Please try to bring as many people as you can! Numbers are very important for the visual aspect of this action.

Why:  The IPSC is organising this protest because CRH owns 25% of the Israeli company Mashav Initiative and Development Ltd which, in turn, owns Israel’s sole cement producer Nesher Cement Enterprises Ltd. Nesher provide up to 90% of all cement sold in Israel, including cement used in the construction of Israel’s illegal separation wall in Palestine and illegal settlements and checkpoints. We are calling on CRH to end its shameful investment in Israel and to stop profiting from the occupation of Palestine by divesting from its Israeli interests.
For the past two years the issue of CRH’s investment in Israel dominated the AGM proceedings and press coverage of the event. We want to repeat that, as CRH, like any business, do not like any negative publicity so it is vital that we highlight it.

2* 10th May, Solidarity vigil for Palestinian Hungerstrikers
Thursday 10th May, 6pm at The Spire

Info:

Today Tues 8th May, is the 22nd day of the massive hunger strike by Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prisons. Palestinians say about 2500 strikers are striking now, some of them for more than two months, most of them joined the strike on April 17th.

Inspired by Khader Adnan, who ended his hunger strike after 66 days winning his freedom, he was protesting his open – ended incarceration in Israeli prisons.

Bilal Diab: on day 71 of open hunger strike against administrative detention.
Tha’ir Halahleh: on day 71 of open hunger strike against administrative detention.
Hasan As-Safadi: on day 65 of open hunger strike against administrative detention.
Omar Abu Shallah: on day 63 of open hunger strike against administrative detention.
Mohammad At-Taj: on day 55 of open hunger strike to demand recognition as POW.
Faris An-Natour: on day 43 of open hunger strike against administrative detention.
Ja’far Izz Iddin: on day 48 of open hunger strike against administrative detention.
Mahmoud As-Sirsik: on day 49 of open hunger strike against administrative detention.
Abdallah Barghouthi: on day 27 of open hunger strike against the policy of isolation.

From their dark, isolated cells, these brave freedom fighters are teaching the world a lesson in resistance and in steadfastness. they are defying the Zionist jailors, defying hunger, defying oppression and inhumanity.

Freedom and justice for all Palestinian hunger strike prisoners who are counting on nothing more than their own imprisoned bodies and their free spirits. Freedom for ALL our detainees held captive in the dungeons of occupation and oppression.
