URGENT PROTEST IN SOLIDARITY WITH PEOPLE OF LIBYA
TODAY, SUNDAY 20 FEBRUARY, 3.00PM AT GPO / SPIRE, O’ CONNELL STREET, DUBLIN.
The Irish Anti-war Movement is calling on its members to support the protest at the GPO today in solidarity with the Libyan people who are under violent attack by the Gaddafi regime. The protest is called by the the Arab Solidarity Movement, the MAI, the Palestinian Rights Institute (PRI) and ARAYA (Libyan) Human Rights Organisation. They are calling for Irish people to support the Libyan people’s struggle for freedom.
A resident of the Libyan city of Benghazi has pleaded for help, saying hospitals are overwhelmed by the number of dead. Ahmed, a businessman and resident of Benghazi who declined to give his real name for his own safety, told Al Jazeera that hospitals in the city were overwhelmed with the number of dead and injured and were running out of blood. Hundreds of defenceless people have been killed by the repressive regime.
Please come out today in support of the Libyan people and call on Irish politicians to use their influence to stop this slaughter.
